Maple Syrup Cake Balls / Maple Syrup Cake Paniyaram / GoIndiaOrganic Review


After my review on Chia seeds from GoIndiaOrganic for plattershare's Associate program, posting an interesting snack for kids using Maple Syrup. According to Wikipedia, Maple syrup is a syrup made from xylem sap of sugar maple, red maple or black maple trees. Maple syrup is often eaten with pancakes, french toast, waffles etc. In addition, this can also be substituted with honey while preparing grilled meat or chicken recipes. The one which i received for review from GoindiaOrganic is Coombs Family Farms's Organic Maple Syrup. It's a grade A dark coloured syrup with a robust taste.
The first taste of this syrup flashed out my memories of hongkong and seychelles. It tasted exactly the same with perfect level of sweetness and richness . This product has a superior quality with light and clear texture. Received this maple bottle without any damage and really appreciate the packaging of the product.The taste of the maple syrup is also not overbearing which can also be used in both cooking and baking purpose. Using this yummy ingredient, tried kids friendly snack Cake balls / Cake paniyaram which was a super hit among family members. The snack tasted heavenly when I dunked the balls in maple syrup.

Maple syrup cake balls is a easy and tasty snack prepared using maple syrup which is used as sweetener along with a tablespoon of brown syrup. According to the given quantity, this has a mild sweet taste, so adjust the quantity of maple syrup or brown sugar to one's taste bud.


Ingredients :

1 Cup All Purpose Flour / Maida 
1 Tsp Baking Powder
A Pinch of Salt 
1/2 Cup Milk
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar ( Increase according to sweet tooth )
1 Egg 
1 Tbsp Cooking Oil 
2 1/2 - 3 Tbsp Maple Syrup 

Method :

Mix all the dry ingredients ( Maida, Baking powder and Salt ) in a bowl and keep aside.

Break the egg and add it to a bowl.

Beat well and add cooking oil followed by milk and brown sugar.

Blend well using beater and add the dry ingredients.

Mix well without any lumps.

Heat the appe pan / Kuzhipaniyaram pan, smear oil and fill the holes with 3/4th of batter.

Cook it in a lower flame and flip the other side using appe stick or toothpick.

Cook both the sides and remove from the flame.

Repeat the same procedure for the remaining batter.

Serve hot.


Serving Options :

Serve with Maple Syrup.

Savoury Egg & Chia Seed Pudding / GoIndiaOrganic Food Product Review


Healthy meal using a healthy ingredients gives a sheer happiness and satisfaction of serving a nutritious meal to our family members. My today's post also a healthy and nutritious breakfast which contains an excellent superfood "Chia seeds".  Thanks to Goindiaorganic and Plattershare team for sending Chia seeds and Maple syrup for product review. Chia seeds are a tiny black seeds with a mild nutty flavour. During google search, found an amazing fact that chia means strength in Mayan language and also known as Runners Food. Runners and Warriors use this superfood as a fuel while running for long distance or while going for a battle.  Chia seeds is easily digestible and a versatile ingredient. This seed can be used as raw, soaked or powder form in any dishes like salad, stir fry, soup, juices etc. This can also be added for giving crunchiness to the dish. As this ingredient contains omega3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fibre and calcium, this helps in treating diabetics, skin and aging related problems, heart related problems, weight loss, build muscle and for stronger bones. As it is high in fiber, this helps in losing weight and useful in digestive health.

The chia seeds which I had received from GoIndiaOrganic is a natural gluten free Raw Chia. The quality of the product is too good and  contains only 100 % chia. This is also certified by Organic farm and a nature's complete food. Highly recommended to buy this product to lead a healthy lifestyle.


Savoury Egg & Chia Seed Pudding is a tasty and healthy meal to serve as a breakfast along with a fresh juice or vegetable juice. Instead of using chia seeds only in smoothies and yogurt, try this interesting one bowl breakfast which can be prepared in couple of minutes. To make this meal more nutritious, include more veggies like mushroom, bell peppers, olives etc. According to my recipe measurement, two medium oval shaped ( as given in the picture ) meal can be prepared. The cooking time for one bowl took 2 minutes for me and it may vary according to the quantity and size of the bowl.

Ingredients :

2 Tsp Butter ( I have used flavoured butter )
4 Eggs
2 Tbsp Milk
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Big Onion, Finely chopped
1 Big Tomato, Finely chopped
Salt to taste
1 Tbsp Freshly ground pepper
5 - 6 Tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated
6 Bread Slices

Method :

Break eggs and transfer it to a bowl along with 2 tbsp of milk and chia seeds.

Beat well using fork and keep aside for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, cut the edges of the breads and chop into pieces. Keep aside.

Add finely chopped onions followed by tomato and salt to the chia seeds soaked beaten eggs.

Grease the ceramic or glass pan with the flavoured butter and arrange the chopped bread pieces.

Now pour the egg mixture on top of the arranged bread pieces.

Sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese on top of it.

Microwave it for 2 mins or till the eggs get cooked.

Once done, remove from the microwave and serve hot.


Serving Options :

Serve hot with Tomato sauce.

Cabbage, Tomato & Egg Rice / Lunch Box Recipes


Bored of making regular tomato or cabbage rice for kids Lunch box ?

Then, try this unique combination of veggies which are cooked along with basic masala powders and eggs is further mixed up with the cooked rice to give a delicious and tasty rice for kids. In addition, this rice is also nutritious as it contains veggies and eggs. Adjust the quantity of chillies and chilli powder according to taste bud. This simple yet tasty rice goes perfect with Potato chips or Potato fry.


Ingredients :

1 Cup Rice 
2 Cups Water 
1 Tbsp Oil 
1 Tsp Jeera / Cumin seeds 
1 Onion, Finely chopped 
2 Green chillies, chopped 
1 Cup Cabbage, Finely chopped 
2 Tomatoes 
1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder 
1/2 Tsp Chilli powder 
1/2 Tsp Coriander powder 
1/4 Tsp Cumin powder 
Salt to taste 
3 Eggs 
Coriander leaves for garnishing 

Method :

Cook the rice using 2 cups of water and keep aside.

Grind the tomatoes into fine paste and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds followed by green chillies.

Add finely chopped onion and saute till translucent.

Add finely chopped cabbage and cook it along with onion for a minute.

Now add the ground tomato paste and mix well.

Add the masala powders ( turmeric, chilli, coriander and cumin ) along with the required amount of salt and mix well.

Cover and cook in a low flame till the cabbage gets cooked and the raw taste of tomatoes goes off.

Now add the eggs and scramble along with the masala.

Cook it for couple of minutes and add the cooked rice.

Adjust salt and mix well so that the masala gets evenly coated with the rice.

Simmer the flame and cook it for a minute.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.


Serving Options :

Serve hot with Potato chips or Potato fry.
