Ivy Gourd & Macadamia Nuts Chutney / Chutney Recipe - 32 / #100chutneys

This is my second recipe using Macadamia nuts which has a buttery taste. Check out my Creamy Butter Chicken Using Macadamia Nuts where I had replaced cashews using these yummy nuts. It has a strong buttery flavour so just an addition of 2 - 3 nuts will give a perfect flavour to the dish. In this recipe, I have used dry roasted and salted nuts along with Ivy gourd to make a delicious and creamy chutney which goes perfectly with Dosa. The procedure is quite simple, all you have to do is just cook all the ingredients together in a pan and then grind into fine paste. Cooking macadamia nuts along with veggies make the nut soft. I have also included grated Ivy gourd in tadka which helps to enhance the taste of chutney.

If you love the flavour of Macadamia nuts, then try this innovative and healthy chutney. Here comes the recipe...

Ingredients :

7 - 8 Ivy gourd / Kovakkai / Tindora
3 - 4 Macadamia nuts
3 Dry red chillies ( Adjust according to taste bud )
Few Mint leaves
Salt to taste

For Tadka :

1 Tsp Oil
1/2 Mustard seeds
1/2 Tsp Urad dal
1 Tbsp grated Ivy gourd

Method :

Add Ivy gourd and all the ingredients except salt in a pan.

Add a cup of water and cook until the ivy gourd gets cooked.

Once done, switch off the flame and allow them to cool completely.

Grind into fine paste by adding the required quantity of salt and water.

Transfer it to a bowl and keep aside.

For tadka, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Once it starts spluttering add urad dal followed by grated Ivy gourd.

Fry and add it to the prepared chutney and serve.

Serving Options :

Serve with Idly or Dosa.

  3. Chutney using tindoras sounds interesting. Tindoras are great for pickles as they have a good taste.
