In my recent surfing found this recipe.. never knew all
these days that this fibrous veggie can turn into yummy chutney. I
tried this chutney with little variation of mine and it was too good...
served this with hot dosa and got so many hits from my family members.
Here is the recipe....
Ingredients :
1 Cup Banana stem, chopped
4 pods Garlic
1/2 Cup Grated coconut
5 Dry red chillies
1 Tomato, Chopped
2 tbsp Urad dal
Small piece of tamarind
1 Tbsp oil
Salt to taste
For Tempering :
2 Tbsp Gingelly oil
1 Tsp mustard seeds
1 Tsp urad dal
Curry leaves
Preparation :
Heat oil in kadai and add banana stem, fry them for 5 mins and keep aside.
Repeat the process for tomato, red chillies, garlic, coconut and urad dal.
Add everything along with tamarind and salt, grind into smooth paste by adding little water.
For tempering, heat oil in kadai and add mustard seeds followed by urad dal and curry leaves.
Add the chutney and serve with idly or dosa.

Very very interesting. I didn't know that we can make chutney using valathandu. This has been my favorite veggie and all I do is make kootu or sambar using this veggie. Gonna try this valathandu chutney. Thanks so much dear for sharing this receipts ������
